Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh and Ashok Vihar are older planned colonies of independent houses and builder floors with many long-settled families. Shakurpur and Shakur Basti are denser and more mixed, while Samaypur Badli, Alipur, Narela, Bawana and Kanjhawala lie on the periphery and combine village settlements, industrial areas and newer affordable housing.
